Say Hello To Jamie Strachan
Who is Jamie Strachan
I'm a singer songwriter and I've been performing on my own for the past two years with my acoustic guitar writing songs that have a lot of meaning to me. The idea of coming back into being a musician again and taking it more seriously, overcoming fears of no confidence in performing alone, but I have done it and continue to do so, it feels amazing once your up and doing something that you love. I wrote a few songs about feeling miserable, being down and being too sensitive in life and that gave me a bit of fire to start a solo project and fuck it if I screw it up, as I'm only letting myself down, no one gets affected by my failure, but I've done it and hope to do so very soon build this solo project into a full band sound because it's always been in my vision.
Where are you from
Glasgow
What music genre are you
I'd consider the acoustic stuff indie/folk but I'd say indie rock for the band when that begins.
For fans of
Frightened Rabbit, Mastersystem, Biffy Clyro & Fatherson
What music have you released so far
I've released a few demos on YouTube of a bunch of songs at the early stage. Acoustic versions recording them in my wee girls bedroom because that's where I get piece and quiet and finish songs. I released our acoustic song Fall of a Man onto all major platforms Spotify, Apple Music etc and a lyric video onto my YouTube channel.
oh! and My Thoughts
Jamie’s debut single Fall of a Man has been on YouTube for a little while but is now available on Spotify and other streaming channels as well.
it’s an acoustic song, it has a great melody, and complements the lyrical style of Jamie, there is tenderness and real emotion in his voice as he delivers the track.
Lyrically it strikes me as being very personal to Jamie and deals with the struggle to be recognised and to feel like you have a place in the world. The opening lines will strike a chord with many as he sings: ‘so here I am I’m speaking to you, how are you now, I’ve been good, but that is a lie, I can no longer hide, so do I cry?, when it’s goodbye”.
This leads on to the chorus which is very emotive with the words “this is the fall of a man, who done all he can for the ones he loved, so will you notice when I’m done, or pick up your life and carry on”.
I loved Fall of a Man it’s got a fantastic acoustic melody, accompanied with heartfelt and very personal emotive lyrics, it’s brave and exposes Jamie’s own issues in dealing with his mental health, it’s a cracking track and deserves a lot of attention.
Jamie also has some more demos available on a YouTube so take a look, there is also a good cover of Frightened Rabbit’s Holy, get yourself involved as he is a very talented songwriter.
