Static Satellites are a four piece indie rock band from West Lothian, they are Ross Whelan (vocals/guitar), Ally Taylor (lead guitar), Sam Carlyle (bass) and Ciaran Boyle (drums).

Formed in the Summer of 2018 the band have rarely stood still and have announced their upcoming debut EP As The Dark Unfolds will be released independently in May.

Static Satellites, released their latest single The Symphony on Friday 5 February. It’s the bands fourth single, and the second to be taken off their forthcoming debut EP.

Speaking about the release, the band said:

The Symphony has been a part of our set and the make-up of this band from the very beginning. It was one of the very first songs we played together in the studio.

They continued by saying:

The Symphony is one of our favourites to play live, and we’re really excited to finally get the song out there for everybody to hear.

The track is indie fusion at its very best, we are welcomed by a huge drumbeat before the glorious guitar riff and bass that drive the song kicks in. It has a melody that is engaging and will have you toe tapping along in seconds ! And the solo guitar at the end, you can see why The Symphony is a huge fan favourite when played live it literally will blow the roof of venues.

Vocally it’s very strong, it has a tinge of melancholy to it but they are delivered so smoothly and the story it tells is portrayed perfectly in the lyrics.

The Symphony is about being with somebody who on paper should be the perfect person for you, everything should be happy and exciting but in reality, it isn’t this is described when Ross sings “Night time it comes, I won't see the light by the time that this is done and you're tired of being tired all the time, well I'd hold you close if you'd just put up a fight “.

Static Satellites are another band rising from the amazing music scene of West Lothian but they are creating their own trail with their infectious melodies and stimulating lyrics. They are a must see for me when gigs return I want to be bouncing along to that fabulous guitar solo.
