Hailing from Edinburgh in Scotland, The Super Moons have been active for around three years they are James Aitken (lead guitar/vocals), Krzysztof Ciesielka (drums/percussion), Geoff Hamilton (vocals/guitar/harmonica),
Jason Kruger (bass) and David Wilson (vocals/acoustic guitar).

The Super Moons music has been described as Indie, power-pop, garage, and blues. Influences are wide and varied and include the likes of Lee Dorsey, The Yardbirds, The Stone Roses, Paul Weller, Northern Soul, Stax, Bill Withers, The Prisoners, John Fulbright, Bob Marley, Toots & The Maytals, Small Faces, The Strypes, The Who, Curtis Mayfield, Gil Scott-Heron, The Doors, Ray Charles, Ray LaMontagne, Queens of the Stone Age, The Allah-Las and loads more.

Since their debut gig in September 2017 the band have played numerous venues across Central Scotland, released a five track debut EP and three additional singles

Their debut EP entitled One Small Step was released in May 2018 and was very well received. The initial run of CDs has since sold out. The five songs are available on all the major streaming platforms, supported by some decent air time including UK wide radio play.

During 2018 the band focussed on playing live to support the release of the EP and played twenty gigs across Scotland before once again retreating to the studio to record the future Christmas classic, Five Days to Christmas, which was released in December of 2018. This track was written about storm Barbara that hit the Scottish central belt five days before Christmas of 2017.

The Super Moons kicked off 2019 with a flurry of gigs in and around Edinburgh. They were also busy in the studio recording another three new tracks, one of which All in a Face was released in June of that year, and the live favourite We Serve the People was released at the end of September 2019.

The Band’s focused on playing live for the rest of 2019 with gigs at LiviAid in Livingston, Stranraer, Biggar Little Festival (Biggar), and the Voodoo Rooms (Edinburgh)amongst others.

The most recent release is All About You, which comes out today, Friday 12 June.  The song was recorded at Substation Studios in Fife as part of a session for a forthcoming album.

All About You is a cracking track, it is introduced by a spoken word clip possibly from a movie, before we get the fantastic melody kicking in, it has a real throwback rock sound to it, some bluesy guitars set the rhythm. The track has a great vocal absolutely a complement to the musicianship.

This is a song about openness and inclusiveness and I loved the verse “what does it take to drop your guard, history left you in scars, make tomorrow a new dawn shut out the past and move along, what you hide behind closed doors and your body’s on the floor, hold your head high and take a stride live your life with love and pride”.

It also has a very engaging and catchy chorus “and what you’ll be is what you are, what you’ll do is go so far and what you’ll show is almost nothing”.

I really enjoyed All About You, I thought it was a well structured track, great instrumentation and vocals harnessed with really engaging lyrics.

I wasn’t too familiar with The Super Moons before this single, but will now be fully checking out their back catalogue to see it they have any more bangers.
