The Capollos - Electrify

The Capollos are an Award Winning indie rock band hailing from the Granite City, Aberdeen. The band was formed by twin brothers Kyle McDonald (vocals and rhythm guitar) and Lloyd McDonald (bass guitar and vocals). They were later joined by Greg Adams (drums) and Brett Thain (lead guitar).

Pathing the way for younger bands in Aberdeen to come through, The Capollos have been a serious act in the North East and continue to push down the country, having found audiences in major cities and towns in Scotland.

Live, The Capollos are a ferocious force, combining melody, energy, swagger and a coolness that borders on effortless. These many qualities have led to comparisons with some of the bands that have influenced them such as the Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Catfish & The Bottlemen and Britpop legends Oasis.

Along the way, The Capollos have supported various bands such as The Pigeon Detectives, Primal Scream, The Sherlocks, The Snuts amongst others. They also had the pleasure of playing at a ceremony held by Elton John whilst he was playing in the city.

With the new single Electrify being released today, Friday 12 June and their collection of die hard fans, The Capollos are ready to take on the rest of the year and connect with even more fans in the UK.

Electrify is an absolute banger of an indie rock track, it launches at breakneck speed with a huge guitar hook and frenetic drumming which sets a fast paced melody.

There is even a section towards the end where they put the brakes on and have an eerie guitar riff which could come straight out of a horror movie before they pick up the pace to end the song in a rip roaring fashion.

It’s got some catchy lyrics with a great chorus of “electrify me, let’s turn it up a notch, electrify me, come on and stab with me with your torch, electrify me, electrify m……….e”.

I also love the lines “you’re a live wire honey and I know I’ve been shot by you, this feeling is deadly but I know that I will see it through”.

Electrify is a fantastic tune, a real fast paced indie banger, it’s been a while since we have heard from The Capollos but it has been well worth the wait.
