Craig Carrigan - Come With Me
Craig Carrigan is a multi-instrumentalist Scottish solo recording artist producing everything from music, to cover art, to photos from home.
Having previously played on the Glasgow scene with Fantanas for several years playing to large crowds and achieving a small amount of mainstream radio play (from the likes of amazing radio thanks to Jim Gellatly, rock sport radio and camglen to name a few) Craig felt it was time to release some music on his own.
Drawing from a wide variety of influences such as Bill Ryder-Jones, My Bloody Valentine, Mac DeMarco and Beach House, Craig tries to merge different styles to construct attractive songs with big guitars and/or mixed with lush sound scapes.
His debut single as a solo artist Come With Me, was recorded at home during lockdown and was released on 12 June.
It’s got a completely different feel to his previous work with Fontana’s, gone is the heavy drum based rock and instead we have a very stripped back guitar based track.
Come With Me has a good melody and engages the listener with its semi acoustic feel. The guitar riff is one to get you nodding in appreciation and the drums are a perfect complement not drowning out the hooks that are thrown in during the track.
Lyrically, I love the opening verse “I’d like to explore the world beyond your front door, well I’m up down on most things cmon and give me a little more, I won’t get invested in colours and shapes around me, as long as you get me guessing I’ll be more than happy”.
It has a nice catchy chorus which is always good to get the fans going with it ending “you’re more than welcome to come with me, to come with me, to come with me, to come with me, to come with me”.
Come With Me is a very encouraging start to Craig’s solo ambitions and I look forward to seeing how the plans develop over the months ahead.
