CAFOLLA - Everyday Superman

CAFOLLA is a Glasgow based singer/songwriter who writes and creates music from the soul, influenced by funk, blues, soul and jazz.

The brand new single Everyday Superman is released today, Thursday 1 October and is the first original release following his critical acclaimed debut solo album Cowboys & Africans.

The track explores growing up in Glasgow as a young boy, figuring out the world blessed with love and how we can all take different paths depending on the hands we are dealt.

The track is produced, arranged and composed by CAFOLLA, engineered, mixed and co-produced by Ross Saunders at GloWormRecording Ltd.

Everyday Superman has a gorgeous melody, starting off with some beautiful piano tinkling, complemented by a meandering drum beat that takes us through a journey of soaring blues beats before an overlay of instrumentation kicks in seeing the track fade out with a psychedelic funk.

The song is about CAFOLLO growing up and you can sense this in the brilliant vocals they are heartfelt and emotional throughout, particularly when reminiscing about his Nana.

The vocals are introspective and reflect on his own experiences, I particularly liked the verse when he sings “I didn’t know much and what I did I failed, in my heart and head I had to figure it out, I wanted for someone to turn up and help me out, but on the streets of Milton no one came around, on the streets of Milton no one comes to town, you need a superman a world with no plan, you need a superman where no one hears you drown”.

Everyday Superman is a stunning song, with some fabulous funky soul beats and a heartfelt emotional lyric sitting alongside, I’m sure it will hit a chord with many on listening as they think of their own childhoods and the areas they grew up in and around.

After the acclaim of Cowboys and Africans, this is a fantastic follow up which again highlights CAFOLLA’s songwriting skills and the ability to cross and mix genres, and with the likes of Michael Kiwanuka winning the Mercury Prize it shows there is still room for blues and soul vibes in today’s pop dominated music marketplace.
