Pizza Crunch - Twelve Month Seasonal Depression
Pizza Crunch are a Glasgow indie alternative four piece band featuring Ewan Hearns (vocals/guitar), Nathan Stokoe (guitar/vocal), Ewan ‘Nico’ Nicholson (drums) and Craig McDermott (bass).
They released their impressive debut single Fraud earlier this year and put themselves on the Scottish indie punk map.
They are now following this up with their second single Twelve Month Seasonal Depression which was released on Friday 11 September.
Despite the title, the track is fabulously upbeat, it’s got a catchy rhythm set by a cracking guitar riff and some stellar drums, it’s a pleasure on your ears.
I loved Fraud, but the guys have shown some real growth with Twelve Month Seasonal Depression it takes their sound to a higher level, you can hear the increase in confidence in their production.
Lyrically is where it touches on the subject matter of depression with the lines “god knows why the stress is all mine, your head takes it in whilst your mind plays those tricks” and “time moves along, being OK is postponed”.
The only sense of melancholy in the track is when they slow the vocal down to sing the title words.
Twelve Month Seasonal Depression is another great release from Pizza Crunch, it has firmly placed them on my radar as a band to be watched and is another to add to the growing list of must sees when gigging resumes.
