TV COMA are a power-pop band based in Brighton, they are Leo Troy, Max Troy, Jamie Rider and Laurie Rothwell.

After gaining coverage on Spotify’s “Hot New Bands”  playlist, plus airplay from Radio X, BBC Introducing, Louder and Fresh On The Net, the four-piece are now gearing up for the release of WUSS, their debut full-length album, which will be released in the Autum. WUSS is named after an essay by Bret Easton Ellis called "Generation Wuss" which criticises the millennial generation.

Congratulations is the latest single to be cut from their upcoming album. It was recorded at The Ranch Studios in Southampton, produced by Neil Kennedy (Creeper/Milk Teeth), before final mastering by Pete Lyman (Weezer/Fallout Boy) at his LA studio. and was released on Friday 14 August.

Opening up about Congratulations, TV Coma vocalist Leo says:

It's about the unexplored paradigms of modern relationships. As the first humans to publically document relationships, millenials were pioneers in dealing with the psychological impact of social media on modern day love. Congratulations explores the aftermath of this: how hard it is to get over someone when there's a 24/7 feed of what they're doing just a click away, when you see that person with another person, followed by a unique kind of acceptance.

Congratulations is a brilliant track, it could be taken straight from the soundtrack of an American Pie movie, it is steeped in glorious guitar riffs giving it a fantastic melody and an absolute sing a long chorus.

The song’s rhythm is held by fantastic bass lines which drive the track throughout until it reaches its chaotic and stirring finale as the song plays out.

Lyrically, Congratulations is looking at that relationship break up from a tongue in cheek perspective, the words are biting and highly sarcastic, particularly in the chorus when they sing “congratulations and all the rest, I want you to know that you’re the best” and continues with “congratulations you win again” before it ends with “she is not good enough for you”.

And that sardonic view continues when they sing “sink the whole pint of sambuca, that neon sign says I’m a loser but your being a self affirmed light, a rainbow shot in black and white”.

Congratulations is a cracking track, fantastic melodies and that ear worm of a chorus. It’s an anthem for all those that have suffered break ups in this digital age.
