Club Beirut - Eyes Wide Open
Club Beirut are a Scottish pop band originating from Edinburgh, consisting of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Craig McInnes, lead guitarist Fraser Laing, bassist Ryan Livingstone and drummer Jordan Linton.
They exploded onto the Scottish music scene in February 2020 with their debut single Something New.
The release of the first single brought massive traction on all platforms including receiving radio play from BBC Introducing and they followed this up with their second single The One That Hurts in May.
They capped a busy year with their third single Stay and this enhanced their burgeoning reputation and indeed saw them being predicted as ones to watch in 2021.
Their first release of 2021 is Eyes Wide Open which came out on Friday 5 February.
“I’ve got a little money now” is how the song opens up with and it’s worth putting a little money on Club Beirut getting plenty of airplay with this one.
It’s got an infectious melody, glorious glittering guitars, punchy drums and some funky bass that really make this a song that will stick in your head and have you dancing along.
It’s upbeat rhythms belie the lyrics, it’s clearly a song about a relationship breakdown as illustrated when they sing “I never thought this would happen until you threw me away” but the beats of the track are defiant, it’s a let’s get up and party and move on kinda number !!!
Club Beirut’s euphoric indie pop is getting them noticed and as we come out of lockdown look for the festival slots opening up for a band that deliver feel good vibes.
