DeadFire - My Mind Belongs To The Devil
DeadFire are a boozy rock and roll four piece band from Aberdeen. The band are Charlie (vocals), Jonny (guitar), Boothy (bass) and Tunk (drums).
With a couple of albums the self titled DeadFire and Hounds of Justice already under their belts and label representation from Fat Hippy in Aberdeen, the band are already well established.
They have garnered a reputation of high energy stage shows, with front man Charlie grabbing attention with his large presence and powerful rough vocals, and the band Jonny, Boothy and Tunk provide a tight as fuck platform.
With influences from old school rock mixed with stoner grunge vibes DeadFire look to deliver killer tunes.
Their latest EP My Mind Belongs To The Devil was released on the 29 February 2020.
The first track is the titled song My Mind Belongs To The Devil and it starts of with slow fuzzy guitars and an almost spoken word lyric, before the guitars and drums kick in to hurtle this heavy rock track through a frenzy of guitars and gruff at times screamed vocals. It’s a fast heart beat track perfect for a head banging crowd.
Mary Jane continues the theme, heavy guitars and driving drums, albeit slightly less frenetic than the opening track, but still driven along at an energetic pace, this track is the more crowd friendly lyrics with a repeatable line “When I hear your name my Mary Jane, you will remain my only flame”
The third and final track is Call from the Void and is again a belting full on heavy rock track, driving bass and drums set the rhythm and the guitars hook you with a blistering riff all backed up by the raw gruffness of Charlie’s vocals, even bringing into the song an almost rock rap spoken verse before ending up with screaming vocals to finish the track.
You know what this is not my normal genre of music but to be honest it’s an enjoyable fucking rollercoaster of noise in your ears.
