Kersty Ryan - [lose it like I lost you]
Kersty Ryan is the new Austin, Texas based pop artist that has hit the scene following some critical acclaim after releasing her singles Anybody Else and Cut You Loose earlier in the Summer.
The Texas native has an intimate, gritty tone to her voice and music, often being compared to modern artists such as Julia Michaels and Hayley Williams.
The singer/songwriter’s new single [lose it like I lost you] is the latest song from a six track EP that will be released later in the year and it tells Ryan’s story of a falling out with a childhood best friend.
[lose it like I lost you] was released on Friday 25 September and it’s an absolute blast of of pop with it’s upbeat summer vibes.
It’s a genuine dichotomy as the melody is sugar sprinkled synth pop, with a real charm and huge danceable beats, yet the lyrics are very melancholy as Kersty sings from personal experience about the falling out with a childhood best friend.
The chorus captures the emotion of dealing with that loss when Kersty sings “I’m gonna lose my mind, lose it like i lost you we ran out of time, I never thought it would hurt cause friends break, it’s supposed to be easy, not worse”
As the song fades out the layered vocal of “I’m going to lose my mind” are sung emphasising the heart ache of losing a best friend.
[lose it like I lost you] is a brilliant track, working on multiple levels, the melancholy lyrics tug at the heart but the glorious dance beats just want to make you get up and throw some moves, it’s a track that could possibly have you dancing and crying at the same time.
Kersty Ryan is certainly a name to look out for if she continues to write pop bangers like this she will soon be a name on everyone’s lips.
