Sunstinger are a 4 piece alternative/noise rock band from Fife consisting of Taylor Wright (vocals/guitar), Scott Gourlay (guitar), Bill Anderson (bass) and Adam Gregory (drums).

They have already played 3 sold-out shows at Glasgow’s notorious King Tut’s Wah WahHut.

Currently, the band has accumulated nearly 15,000 streams with their four previous singles on Spotify, along with nearly 5,000 views on their music videos on YouTube.

Their 5th single Shimmer, is released today, Friday 20 March.

Lead singer Taylor Wright describes the song as:

Shimmer is a song about where we are from and how the places we live in have an impact on who we are as people. A lot of bands choose escapism as a general theme in their songs. Especially band from our areas. Instead, we write songs that celebrate who we are and where we are from. Shimmer is a song like that.

The song itself is a tuunnnne, it starts off with a fuzzy guitar intro, vocals kick in along with the steady beat drums and a cracking guitar riff. It is powered by the guitar hook and the softly spoken vocal, it is a very upbeat feel to it with detectable influences in my mind from bands like The Jesus and Mary Chain and Echo and the Bunnymen.

I have to say that this is one of the best songs I have heard so far this year, I absolutely love it.
