Go To Girl - Honesty
Go To Girl are an Edinburgh indie pop rock four piece, comprising Amy (vocals/guitar), Mike (guitar), Anna (drums) and Angus (bass). They got together in early 2018 and spent the majority of the year writing, recording and refining their music.
Their varied influences make for a unique sound that blends 80’s pop with funk basslines and classic rock elements reminiscent of Paramore, Haim and Fickle Friends.
In 2019 they performed across Scotland in notable venues such as Sneaky Pete’s, The Mash House, The Hug & Pint and the legendary King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut supporting the likes of Anna Sweeney and Indigo Velvet as well as playing their own headline shows.
Today Friday 20 March sees Go To Girl release their third single Honesty.
To quote lead singer, Amy
The lyrics from Honesty come from real experience. It’s super relatable as so many people have been through the pain of a relationship ending but I wanted to focus on the empowerment that comes with being single again and picking yourself back up when you’ve been knocked down.
So to Honesty itself, it’s 3 minutes 20 seconds of pure pop perfection, it’s got an absolutely blinding guitar riff which pulls you into the song, and just wants to make you let your body go and throw some shapes to the danceable rhythms. This is all underpinned by a fantastic soulful harmony from Amy.
It’s a great song and further enhances Go To Girls reputation of writing upbeat danceable indie pop.
They are a band who bring sunshine into the “dreichest” of days and need to be heard so give it a listen now -
