S.McLellan & Elle Bee - Feeling The Same
Elle Bee is the pseudonym of twenty seven year old Stirling singer/songwriter Laura Begley.
Laura used to perform in a band called Two Stripe from 2010 to 2013 playing gigs all over Scotland including the renowned King Tuts.
In 2016 Laura made it to the knock-out stages of tv show The Voice, after that experience she took some time out to process what had happened on the show, as she admits:
for me it wasn’t the best experience and found it quite difficult afterwards
After deciding to go travelling in 2018, Laura started writing her own music and rediscovered her passion for singing and since coming back from her travels late last year she has been collaborating with a few different people and working on some electronic tracks !
It was also then that the rebrand to Elle Bee happened to take away the links to The Voice and allow her to finally show the real “me”.
So this brings us up to date and the release of Feeling the Same her debut single as Elle Bee in collaboration with S.McLellan. The single was released today, Friday 24 April.
Feeling the Same is a very catchy electro pop track, it starts off with gentle floaty synth before Elle Bee’s vocal kicks in, it immediately reels you in with the catchy chorus “I’m aware, I’m aware that you want it too, but I know, but I know that it’s due to you, I’m aware, I’m aware that you want it too….”
The song is about trying to kindle a relationship when two people want the same thing but are not sure how to get there, there are some great descriptive lyrics in the song, I particularly liked the verse “give me life and watch it glow, touch my lips and hold me close, raise me up and hold me down, take your time I’ll show you how”.
Overall this is a great song, a good beat to the track and some clever catchy lyrics, perfect for a summer evening with a glass of wine in your hand when you need some chilled feel good pop, this definitely delivers.
Hopefully, the reinvention as Elle Bee will shake off the shackles of The Voice and we will see a new pop star rise to the top.
