The Bright Skies - Tokyo

The Bright Skies are a four piece indie/alternative rock band from Edinburgh, they are Liam McLennan (rhythm guitar/vocals), Kallan Glynn (guitar), Frankie Linn (bass) and Blair Russell-Simpson (drums).

Today 21 February sees them release their latest single Tokyo which was produced by Mark Morrow.

Tokyo lasts just over 5 minutes and is an absolute belter of a tune, strong melodies, backed up by some driving drums and guitars which pulls it along so quickly it’s hard to believe it lasts that time.

The song has strong lyrics describing themes of escapism “can it be, there’s a place out there where only you and me” and has a catchy chorus “find me down in Tokyo” which will be sung back at them when the song is played live.

This song will enhance their reputation as one of the most promising up and coming bands in the Edinburgh scene, recently described by Jim Gellatly as “a great wee band”, which I’m in total agreement with.

Once you have listened to this, give their back catalogue a try as they have already released some cracking tunes, Side Effect being a particular favourite of mine.

The Bright Skies have an upcoming gig on:

21st March - The Hive in Edinburgh

The band can be followed on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
