Theo Bleak - You’re Not Even Really Here

Rising from the ashes of stmartiins Katie Lynch’s new project Theo Bleak had an absolutely phenomenal 2021, it saw the release of the first single Paper in September immediately before a live debut at TRNSMT, not a bad way to introduce yourself to the music world.

This was followed up by singles Feels Like Rain and Winter Song rounding off a year that also saw them secure a top tier support slot with Joesef.

The first release of 2022 is You’re Not Even Really Here and when describing the track Katie says:

You’re Not Even Really Here is about fighting with people around me, only because I see myself in their actions.

And what a track it is, moody dream pop brought to life with a lo-fi melody and the gorgeous vocals of Katie that tell a story in the well crafted lyrics.

Katie says the lyrics are about arguing with people around her but when I hear them it tells a story of a person arguing with herself not having the confidence to believe in their own voice.

This comes through strongly in the chorus “You’re not even really here you’re exactly what I’ve always feared you’re not even really here you’re exactly what I’ve always feared” suggesting that the only person being argued with is herself.

Each song that Theo Bleak release sees them hit new heights with perfectly styled dream pop, melancholic stories materialising in the enchanting vocals of Katie Lynch and that can only lead to bigger gigs and bigger venues in 2022, certainly one to keep an eye on.
