Hounds Haul - Riviera
Formed in Buckinghamshire late 2019, Hounds Haul started as the brain child for years of accumulated work by Frontman Adam Bosworth. Instead of going solo, Adam went in search of like minded musicians to help bring his work to life.
Adam was put into contact with fellow Buckinghamshire musician, bass player Jamie Smith. Adam sent Jamie early versions of songs Riviera and Capital, and Jamie, a big fan of 80s post punk and synth wave was hooked straight away describing it as Depeche Mode meets Tame Impala. Synth & keys player Rien De Keyser and Tom Maddams on lead guitar joined the band shortly after. Rien, a classically trained pianist has an ear for the unusual, the avant-garde and a wide range of musical tastes. Tom also has a wide variety of musical interests with a particular love for heavy metal.
By the end of 2019 Hounds Haul was already seeing success in their local area, playing a string of shows around their hometown of Milton Keynes and wider local area, including London. The band also released two self recorded singles, Red Sycamore and Capital, the latter receiving plenty of local radio play. All of this helped them carve out a local fan base and have been considered "ones to watch in 2020".
Continuing where they left off in 2019, early 2020 saw the band continue live shows, perfecting their sound. The bands' plans of shows up and down the country and Europe would come to a halt though as the world was put on lock down by Covid-19.
But they had been working on their third single Riviera and this was released last week, Friday 4 September and I guess the best way to describe the track is simply WOW!
Riviera is a just an absolute banger, glorious guitar riffs and synths create a pounding dance floor filling melody, this track could have been lifted straight from the 1980’s heydays of the new romantic scene, early Duran Duran immediately sprang to mind on hearing it.
There is no let up on Riviera, with its pounding bass lines it picks you up and does not drop you until well after the song is finished. I guess the catchy as hell chorus says it all, when they sing “we’re the ghosts on call, where the future lives, we’re the haunted hall, we’re in your head”. The ear worm of a chorus certainly does get in your head and this is a track I guarantee will be played on repeat once you listen, it catches you hook, line and sinker !
I say it again WOW! what a fantastic track Riviera is, Hounds Haul are definite a band on the rise and 2021 will see them expand their fan base as they start taking over the rest of the country with their new romantic killer sounds.
