Chiara Baillie - Disappear
Edinburgh based singer-songwriter and independent artist Chiara Baillie performs and writes an array of acoustic/pop music. Usually accompanying herself on piano or guitar, Chiara enjoys performing songs stripped back and raw.
Since graduating with a degree in Music, Chiara has been focusing on writing and recording her own material to release and establishing herself as an artist.
Chiara’s debut single Disappear was released on Monday 26 October and it’s hauntingly beautiful.
The track opens with a gentle almost acoustic guitar riff and introduces us to Chiara’s fantastic vocals, it’s the vocal that grabs the attention making the hairs on your arms stand up as the melancholic lyrics discuss the issues of mental health and trying to overcome them.
This is described perfectly when Chiara sings “I don’t want to feel that version of me anymore and I hope one day that I will open up my doors”.
Disappear is an emotional heart on the sleeve story that deals with the struggles of overcoming mental health but despite the difficult topic it does leave me with a sense of overlying optimism when Chiara sings “I looked in the mirror and decided to stay another day”.
This really is a fantastic debut track from Chiara Baillie and if this is a sign of things to come then I don’t think she will disappear from our radars anytime soon, I think there is a great career ahead for this melancholic songbird.
