Apollo Junction - Borderlines

IMG_0872.png

Apollo Junction are a Leeds based indie rock quintet, they are Jamie Williamson (vocals), Matt Wilson (guitar), Jonathan Thornton (drums), Ben Hope (bass) and Sam Potter (keyboards).

The band take influence from a wide range of genres from New Romantic to 90s Britpop, mixing with countless Motown albums and an extensive dig into the well loved record collections of their family members.

Apollo Junction had their first single In Your Arms used by BBC1 programme Football Focus and then had the song Born For Now used for the ending credits of Match of Day 2.

In July 2020, after turning down a number of record deals, the band signed with brand new label Shed Load Records. With a base in Leeds and ties with London, it was an obvious next step for the band on their journey. This deal will also see them release their debut album Mystery on vinyl next month following its digital release late last Summer.

This year the band have released Forever and Sometimes, both attracting airplay and critical acclaim.

And that brings us to their latest release Borderlines which dropped on Friday 11 September and it’s another indie anthem.

It is a powerful in your face track, driven by melodic guitar riffs, intense drums and some subtle piano which combined allow the track to ebb and flow and provide a great platform for the brilliant vocals.

Apollo Junction have a skill in writing songs that grab your attention and Borderlines is no exception with its ear worm chorus of “I’m only happy when the sun goes down, I’m only happy when the lights are out and the night is you and the dream is you …..why don’t you take me home”.

Apollo Junction are a band on an upward curve, I can’t wait until they can play live again, hopefully they will make it up North to Scotland.
