Apollo Junction - On The Ropes

Apollo Junction are Leeds based indie rock quintet, they are Jamie Williamson (vocals), Matt Wilson (guitar), Jonathan Thornton (drums), Ben Hope (bass) and Sam Potter (keyboards).

Apollo Junction are making some serious noise after relentless hard work over the last eighteen months.

Renowned for their explosive sound, fusing 90’s Britpop with synth-led alt-rock it’s easy to understand why Steve Lamacq, Chris Hawkins and Graham Norton are fans.

Ready to unveil the next part of their highly anticipated second album, new single On The Ropes kickstarts 2021 with a real statement of intent and it was released on Friday 22 January.

Showering synths, booming bass and echoing vocals immediately give you a punch in the stomach to grab your attention, what a way to open a track !!

And there is no let up whatsoever, the euphoric synths and heavy bass give it a real nostalgic danceable beat, but it is interwoven by some crunching guitar riffs that bring us straight back to 2021.

On The Ropes is infectious, it’s a track that will run through your veins, it’s one that will stay with you for a long time after the track ends especially that anthemic chorus of “oh baby you’ve got me on the ropes”.

I have a feeling that 2021 is going to be a massive year for Apollo Junction and On The Ropes may just be the start of one banging tune after another. I for one cannot wait for their second album and hopefully catch them live as well.
