Krytical Mass - Unycorn
Krytical Mass is Dunfermline based musician Sandy Power’s solo venture where he enters the land of electronic music.
Unycorn was released on Monday 25 January and is the follow up to the critically lauded debut release The Future Sound of KDY.
Unycorn has a darker vibe than its predecessor, it uses multiple layers of drums, percussion and synthesiser to build a dense brooding cacophony of sound that easily soundtrack a futuristic movie setting, think classic movies like Blade Runner, The Warriors or Escape from New York.
Interestingly the music contains an eerie sample of a musical toy unicorn keyring, sourced from Power’s day job working at an historic monument situated on an island in the River Forth, which lends the track its name.
The single artwork has been created by Jade Wotherspoon, who painted, photographed and edited the background image, which was commissioned by Krytical Mass.
Krytical Mass has given us another piece of fantastic electronic dance music, it plays in the background but doesn’t stay there, you can feel your head move and then your feet, you will end up bopping and tapping away as Unycorn’s dramatic tempo grabs your attention.
