Somewhere Above The Sky is our debut EP and our first release, with Way Out West being the lead single.

We will be heading back into the studio, hopefully in July to record a second EP which will be the second part to Somewhere Above The Sky.

We had a lot of shows booked over the summer but these are going to be rescheduled for September onwards. We will hopefully be playing our first show back at the Notting Hill Arts Club on 5 September.

oh! and My Thoughts

So I first came across Interstate when they got in touch about the release of their EP Somewhere Above The Sky.

I gave it a listen and was immediately hooked by the opening notes of the first track I Wanna Love You Now, with its heavy funky bass lines and upbeat melody it is a real dance floor filling banger.

Lyrically, I loved the verse “in the city that we live in the city that we love, in the city where you meet someone takes us to a higher love, in the moment where I said those things……….. everything made sense that night cos of you, bcos of you, bcos of you, bcos of you”.

Great opener to the EP and there is no drop in quality with the second track Way Out West it starts off almost like a ticking clock before the dance vibes kick in again, it’s funky guitar riffs and soothing vocals draw you in and keep you hooked.

The opening verse is the pick of my lyrics when Kennan sings “no need to worry, need to worry if you know, it’s all the same, it’s all the same it’s just a show and we grow bigger, we grow bigger as we light a fire that will warm us to our bones, and I never thought I’d ever find people like you would blow my mind, and I never thought I’d ever find people like you would blow my mind“.

There is a great change of pace to the track about a minute to go when the track slows down and almost has a touch of nostalgia as the words “home is a place where I will rest with you in mind and all of the lovely things we said will grow in time” play out before the song is picked up again to a resounding finish.

Stargazing is the next track and this one delivers an emotional punch, it is a slower drum led track with the emphasis on the haunted vocal, it is almost Coldplayesque (if that’s an adjective !).

It’s a song about about a relationshipship break up as echoed in the opening lyrics “caught in love a bitter love, this time last year I was loving you, caught in love a bitter love, this time next next year I’ll be over you” and also later on when the lyrics are “free of love but hurt no more, this time last year I was leaving you, free of love but hurt no more, this time next year who knows what’s in store”.

This song gives you chills when listening to it, it takes on a journey through a relationship, melancholic and heartfelt until it’s breathtaking ending.

The final track is Satellites, and there is no real let up to the tugging of the heart strings this is another emotional rollercoaster of a song, guitars driving the exquisite melody and again the vocals are delivered with passion and feeling.

What an absolute fantastic debut EP Somewhere Above The Sky is, four great tracks, showcasing the bands ability to play not only dance floor filling bangers but real heart tugging emotional songs as well.

I’m really looking forward to what more they have up their sleeve, get listening now, it’s gonna be worth it.
