Say Hello To Dead Rituals

Who are Dead Rituals

Dead Rituals is a band based in Naples, Italy, I, Andrea Caccese started the group when I was living in New York, and I kept writing songs moving to different countries, until I settled back into my hometown. I play with various collaborators and make music with some of my closest friends!

Where are you from

 We’re from Naples, Italy!

What music genre are you

Indie rock, alternative, shoegaze…it really doesn’t matter much to us, as much as following our instinct and play whatever we feel like!

For fans of

DIIV, Cloud Nothings, The Cure, Blink-182, Joy Division…

What music have you released so far

So far, we released our first EP, featuring four songs and an acoustic version! It’s available on Spotify and all streaming platforms! During the pandemic, we also released a few studio covers of some of our favorite songs, from Radiohead, to Nirvana, Mac Miller and Paul McCartney!

oh! and My Thoughts

I discovered Dead Rituals when Andrea sent me a link to their EP on Instagram and I’m so glad he did.

The self titled EP is excellent, the first track Run is an absolute indie banger, it’s got a great guitar melody and like any great indie track it has that singalong chorus that everyone wants. There is no let up to the feel good indie vibe with Closer, it’s even better than the opener, it’s got a fucking fantastic jump around melody, driven by a rhythm set by the drummer. Boy these lads are good !!

There’s no time to catch a breath as they hit us with Melbourne ( featuring Francis Moon), it’s got the same Indie vibe to the track but is slightly darker in tone and instrumentation, indeed it almost finishes with the screamed angst of something akin to the nu metal genre.

The final track Enough is another tune ! The guitars, synths and drums a bit darker, more shoegaze, but then they unleash an absolute catchy as fuck guitar riff chorus, they have a bit of fun with sounds on this one letting the guitars screech as it roars through three minutes of perfection.

You should also give the acoustic version of Closer a listen, it’s stripped back but really showcases the sound that Dead Rituals bring

I am so glad that I was sent the link to the EP, it’s insanely good, if you like your melodies, killer riffs and singalong choruses then Dead Rituals deliver on all counts, this is an outstanding debut EP and gives them a great platform to build from, they are a band I will be following closely, here’s hoping they get over to the UK at some point.
