Say Hello To AJ Dvorak
Who is AJ Dvorak
I’m a born-and-raised Chicago musician residing in Los Angeles since 2015. As a child, I was exposed to rock music and naturally began experimenting on the drums and piano. Around the age of 12, I began playing the guitar and teaching myself chords and tab music. Highly inspired by classic rock bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and The Doors, I tried imitating the sounds I was hearing and thus began creating my own music. With a little help from my friends, I began practicing piano and drums more seriously and just played whatever instrument I could get my hands on. I continued to write music and collaborate with friends, and played my first show at 16 in Wrigleyville (Chicago). I continued playing in various jam-rock bands including psychedelic rock band Lemon Tree until my departure. I moved to LA to teach music to special needs students and began networking around the South Bay. With the move out west and exposure to the LA music scene, I began writing brand new music and jamming with folks which eventually led to the creation of Tell Me How It Feels recorded at D.M. Gremlin Recording Studio in Long Beach. Currently creating new demos in my apartment and collaborating with new friends for the next record.

oh! and My Thoughts
It was listening to AJ’s song Colors that first piqued my interest in the artist.
Colors is a brilliant rock track, it has an easy on the ear stripped back guitar riff that sets the starting rhythm of the song, it’s accompanied by a great rock vocal, reminiscent of Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder.
It has some good lyrics as well I love the opening verse “awake and let your day take place, your eyes may see a surprise, the sun will let your colors come, and that is what I see”.
The chorus hears AJ push a stronger vocal when he sings “is that what you really want, yes I do, yes I do” before later he sings “is that how you really wanna feel, yes I do, yes I do”.
We are then treated to an absolutely psychedelic guitar solo as the track comes to a close, it really highlights AJ’s guitar skills, I also enjoyed the final verse which is spacious almost spoken word conclusion as AJ sings “it’s in your eyes, it’s in your mind, it’s in your soul, it’s your colors”.
Colors is a great introduction to AJ’s debut album Tell Me How It Feels, which is packed full of banging tracks.
I would suggest that you check AJ’s music out, he is writing some great rock tracks and is definitely someone who needs to be followed.
