Beta Waves - Questions for the Band
This weeks Questions for the Band features Dundee duo, the electro pop wizards Beta Waves, as usual I will let them introduce themselves.
A gentle start, for those that don't know the band that well. can you tell us a little bit about yourselves ?
Hello, we consists of Dale & myself (Harry).
We formed in Dundee about two years ago and within a week had already played our first show.
Who are the bands musical influences ?
To be honest it's hard to say as it changes everyday. At the moment though we're pretty obsessed with the new George Fitzgerald tracks.
What is your writing process ? Music or Lyrics First ?
I think it depends entirely on the track. Some songs can be built around just a vocal hook and some can't. We tend to go for music first as it gives you a bit more room to play with.
What is your favourite and least favourite parts of being in a band ?
We have a pretty big live set up just now which is great but it's a bit of a nightmare to set up and take down in fifteen minutes.
Favourite part has to be when new stuff translates on stage without us having to change that much.
What items are always on your rider for a gig ?
Gin, preferably Aldi.
If you could choose to support any band/artist who would it be and why?
Robyn! Because she's Robyn.
Looking ahead for this year, what are your plans ? can we expect new music ? and do you have any ambitions that you want to fulfill this year ?
Our new single Hideaway comes out April 3rd. Following that we will hopefully put out a new track once a month for the remainder of the year.
And finally, if you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Simian Mobile Disco - attack decay sustain release.
I remember buying this record when it first came out in 2007 and I still love it as much as I did then. I think it's aged really well despite being in thick of the nu-rave era. 'sleep deprivation' is an all time classic for me.
Thanks to Harry for giving us a little bit of an insight into Beta Waves, and the teaser that we may get new tracks every month.
As Harry said the new single Hideaway was released yesterday, read the review below and give it a stream:
