Amy Lou - Little Shop of Heroes 8 March 2020

So the final instalment of Amy Lou this week, after the review of her new single Tonic Wine and being our Questions for the Band this week, I went along to her Awfy Intimate tour date at the Little Shop of Heroes In Dunfermline. The tour is definitely well named as the venue is a comic book store and the stage is in the window area.

The support for the evening was Katie & Lora who are an acoustic duo based in Perth/Dunfermline. They play an entertaining blend of folk/country songs which showcases the duo’s strong vocal and harmonies.

After a break Amy Lou is on stage and telling the audience how pleased she is in doing her intimate tours as it allows a little bit of an escape from the band and returns to her just being Amy Lou.

Her first song is Fiat Five Hunner, which is a song about being in love with a girl, but that girl always making you feel less about yourself and making you feel like the lyrics suggest that you are in reverse.

Next up was her excellent latest single Tonic Wine, Amy Lou telling us that she started to write the song in December 2018 and the relief she felt when it was finally released. Addiction is next and is another great tune, in this instance the addiction is to love.

I Like it Would You Love It is a new song and Amy Lou tells us we need to tell her if it is shite, it’s not though it another example of her songwriting skill and witty lyrics. Longtime is also a new song about working things out when in a long term relationship.

Chania was the previous single and is a belting wee tune, which Amy explains could be about a cheating ex girlfriend or simply about Shania Twain. The set is finished with a crowd favourite Marine Biologist which brings a good evening to an end,.

It’s a great evening with Amy Lou explaining what the meaning behind each song is giving us a better understanding of them. The evening also highlights Amy Lou’s ability to craft fantastic pop tunes with great riffs, and witty lyrics.
