Twin Atlantic - Beat Generator 29 Jan 2020
So what better to do on a wet Wednesday night in Dundee than go along to Beat Generator where Twin Atlantic were doing an album launch show for their latest release Power hosted by Assai Records.
It was a packed house for a band who are long removed from playing such intimate venues so this was surely going to be a rare treat.
The boys come on stage and kick off with the opening song on their new album Oh Euphoria which is a clear sign of a new direction for the band. It has a more electro-rock feel to it with some heavy synths. This vein is continued with Novocaine which could well be the standout song of the evening.
They then take a step back to GLA with No Sleep which was the standout track for me from their previous album and the crowd might be in agreement as the room begins to bounce along to the chiming sounds coming from the stage.
We jump back further in time with Make a Beast enthralling the crowd even further.
It’s back to Power for Volcano which almost has the walls vibrating with its booming bass.
We then have the first real sing along of the evening with Brothers and Sisters which is clearly a favourite with the crowd.
We then have another new tune in Barcelona, where drums and synth create a brooding darkness before the song is brought to life with its chorus.
The set is completed by another fan favourite Heart and Soul and the evening ends with the crowd entertained but wanting more.
It’s been too long since the boys toured Scotland but it’s nice to see they retain the ability to grab the audience and drive the evening with some true rock tunes and Sam’s charisma and delivery of the songs still works the crowd to perfection.
It’s just a pity I was unable to get tickets for when they return to Dundee in a matter of weeks ☹️
