The Wound Review - Broadcast 26 Jan 2020

I was in Glasgow for the weekend to see Shhe and this was a last minute decision to take in a gig and I’m so glad I did.

The Wound Review are Jamie Coltart and Steven Melens and were playing their first gig of the new decade in support of John Edge and the Kings of Nowhere as part of Celtic Connections.

Jamie gave an initial warning that they were not the usual type of act for Celtic Connections and proceeded to launch into a very tuneful opener, what’s not to like about two guitarists and the tightest percussion ever [drum machine !].

The best way to describe them would I guess be, don’t take offence guys, but probably Indie with some great melodies and very good harmonies with some very heartfelt and emotional lyrics.

The crowd were very appreciative of the tunes being played as they played a very tight and entertaining set, my favourite songs being All of This, Lately and the final untitled song.

A really enjoyable set with an engaging duo who clearly enjoy the buzz of playing live to an audience
