Billy Mitchell - King Tut’s 17 Jan 2020
So the start of 2020 saw Billy Mitchell travelling to Glasgow to headline one of King Tut’s New Year Revelation Events in what was to be his biggest headline event to date.
Immediately before we were treated to a great set by a young four piece band from Airdrie called The Novacs. It was the first time I had come across them but will certainly be keeping an eye out for them in the future. They played a fast paced, confident set with some very catchy tunes which certainly got the crowd involved. I also had the pleasure of chatting to the parents and family of the lead guitarist who were beaming with pride at the performance the lads had just put on.

So with the mood set we welcomed Billy and his band to the stage and the crowd were already buzzing. They kicked off with Crazy Like Me and that immediately lifted the audience to a higher level again.
With Billy feeding of the crowd and clearly thrilled to be headlining the band rattled through a very entertaining set with some great riffs and perfectly timed drumming, All You Got really getting the crowd clapping and singing along.
But the best for me was to come with their last two tracks Losing Control and Psycho lifting the crowd into a full singalong and ending the evening on a real high note.
It was just a shame that it was all over far too quickly on what was a great night for the fans and Billy.
Now that he has headlined King Tut’s, fingers crossed he keeps the momentum going in 2020 and pushes on gives us some new tunes as well.
