Messed Up Youth - Conroy’s Basement 19 Feb 2020
Messed Up Youth are a three piece band from Fife, they are Lewis Oliver (guitars/vocals), Emily Baxter (bass) and Dominic Hardy (drums) who have a punky grunge sound.
Messed Up Youth were the final band to take to the stage at Conroy’s on a wet Wednesday night and the crowd had increased as they opened their set with Happy Family which would set the tone for the evening with fast drums and guitars and angst ridden vocals.
They blasted there way through a blistering set of politically driven angry punk songs, delivered with energy, great timing and a sharpness to the guitars and Lewis’ lyrics delivered with intensity and purpose.
The crowd were certainly enjoying the anarchic noise of the set as they bobbed along to each tune with an occasional mosh pit breakout.
My favourites from the set were Give, Special, Selling Out and the standout Daisies.
There final song of the evening saw the crowd break into another mosh pit as Mixed Up Youth ended the evening the way they started with blisteringly fast guitars, and a great drum rhythm,
It was enjoyable set which would definitely appeal to lovers of Green Day, Blink-182 and Nirvana.
