Luke Porter - You Don’t See In Me What I See In You
Whitley Bay based, singer songwriter Luke Porter is back with his new folk inspired single You Don’t See In Me What I See In You.
Performing shows in staple Newcastle venues such as O2 Academy, The Cluny and Think Tank has seen Luke grow into a major name across the local music scene in the North East.
His biggest live achievement to date, has been noted as, three support shows with staple indie band Twisted Wheel. Whilst gathering momentum in the live scene, Luke was picked up by nationally acclaimed promoter Scruff of The Neck and has worked with them several times since.
Back in 2019 Luke released his self-titled debut EP, he describes the making of these tracks as
purely a remedy for going through a rough spot.
He then goes on to explain how his first EP was based on an indie sound that he’d grown up with in the noughties, however, he has since developed his style and personalised the sound he is generating.
The new track has been wrote, produced and mostly played by Luke himself. He travelled around the North East, using several different studios to record the instrumental tracks. The keys heard on the track were actually recorded by Dave Hull-Denholm of Lindisfarne.
Collecting all of these individual tracks together, Luke then finalised and mixed the song from his home studio.
When discussing the lyrical content of this track Luke explained his desire for people to interpret the lyrics in their style and apply them to their personal thoughts and feelings, showing there’s no universal truth to them and can be used over a vast amount of situations.
You Don’t See In Me What I See In You is released today, Saturday 1 August and is part of a four track EP The Truth Lies Behind which is set for release later this year.
The track itself is an outstanding blast of indie folk pop, it’s got a fantastic melody set by the guitar riff and is accompanied later in the song by the harmonica.
It’s very catchy and that melody really is an ear worm so instantly grabs your attention and Luke produces a very strong vocal to complement it so well.
Lyrically it’s very good, I loved the lines “the tearful future symbolises the hope of the prosperity yet to congregate the world and save our futures”.
You Don’t See In Me What I See In You is just over two minutes long but as soon as it ended it went straight on repeat as I just wanted to hear more of the killer melody, I think you will too.
Luke is a new name to me but glad I have discovered him, best way to describe his music ?, it’s a mix of Gerry Cinnamon and Jake Bugg, channeling the folksiness of the former with the more rockier element of the latter. What’s not to like !!
