Decay - Comfortable

Liverpool post-hardcore band Decay are Daniel Reposar (vocalist/lyricist),
Connor Baugh (guitarist/songwriter), Nathan Peloe (guitarist/vocals),
Toby Hacking (drums, lyricist, songwriter) and Matthew Pickford (bass).

Comfortable, was released on 11May 2020, its the first new material to be shared by the band since their 2019 EP Modern Conversation and is also the lead single from their debut full length album, Staring At The Sun, which is due to be released on 10 July 2020.

In true Decay fashion, Comfortable is quick on the trigger, and instantly grabs your attention.  There is some great musicianship on this track, guitars, bass and drums all work well to give Comfortable a great fast almost punk like rhythm and is joined by an angst vocal to produce a fantastic all action, smack you in the face rock track.

Lyrically, it describes trying to deal with your problems and keeping them repressed. I particularly liked the opening lines “As the leaves turn to grey in my hands, I’m reminded of who I am I just don’t feel how I used to, nothing feels the same” and also the lyrics “Carry my worries upon your back, and give it time your foundations will crack, I guess it’s true that nothing lasts, you’re build on”.

This is a good intro to their forthcoming album, and I look forward to Staring at the Sun being released.

The song is accompanied by an official video, the concept of which is explained by Reposar:

Comfortable is a song about coming to terms with all of the things you hate about yourself and your current life situations. To portray this we wanted to remain hidden for the majority of the video as a way to express how we often hide away all of our worst problems and worries.
