Jamie Strachan - Leaving

IMG_0631.jpeg

Jamie Strachan is a singer/songwriter from Glasgow and has been performing solo for the past two years with his acoustic guitar writing songs that have a lot of meaning for him.

His writing draws on influences from Frightened Rabbit, Owl John, Mastersystem and Glasvegas.

Jamie released his debut single Fall of a Man in April this year and is now following this up with the release of Leaving which is now available on streaming websites.

Leaving is dedicated to Jamie’s late grandfather, William Clements.

It’s a very stripped back acoustic song but it has a very catch melody that draws you into the track. It is a song that is about dealing with grief and Jamie delivers the song with his heart on his sleeve, there is real emotion and sentiment in his vocal, and it obviously has a very personal connection.

That personal connection comes with the lyrics as Jamie talks about him dealing with loss as he sings “take care of yourself your purposes won’t disappear, angels will guide you through, all the misery it’s only temporary, you just need to hold on, can’t get over it, learn to live with it, it will be with you til the end, going nowhere, going nowhere”.

It also has a very emotive chorus as Jamie sings “the clocks have stopped now, the grief it drops body to the floor, my heart is broken, my head is sore, can’t take anymore, leaving am I dreaming, your leaving to be somewhere else, leaving am I dreaming, your leaving to be somewhere else”.

Leaving falls hard on the heels of Jamie’s last single Fall of a Man which also tackled difficult subject matter, he is proving to be quite the songwriter in laying his emotions and feelings open and bare for us all to hear.

Its another great track, I’m really looking forward to how Jamie develops his songs into a bigger sound and how he delivers that rawness and heartfelt sincerity in his songs to a live audience, wow it will be an emotional evening.

if you aren’t aware of Jamie yet, get involved, he is a brave songwriter in his topics and lyrics but brings them to life In melodies that will resonate with most people. It’s good stuff, give him a listen.
