Kent based alternative rock four piece Dohny Jep are Stuart Day (guitar/vocals), Pete Herbert (bass/vocals), Rowan Tremain (drums) and Wayne Ambrose (guitar).

They began as a duo in early 2019, with Stuart and Pete deciding to create something unlike anything either of them had done before in previous bands and projects. With their unique video concepts and mesh of pop-synth melodies and rock guitars, they did just that.  Fast forward one year and with an additional two members in tow, the group self-released their much celebrated debut album L.U.S.T in July 2020.

Since the release the band have amassed over 50,000 streams on Spotify, received regular airplay from Hard Rock Hell Radio and BBC Introducing as well as glowing reviews from the likes of Dead Press and Distorted Sound. 

Dohny Jep used 2020 to record more music and they will be releasing their new EP Smile, It Might Never Happen on Friday 26 February via Favour The Brave Records.

As a taster to the EP the lead single Looking In was released on Friday 29 January, when asked about the track the band said:

Looking In is about feeling left out and neglected, wanting to be included but also struggling to make these feelings known, causing you to never really get anywhere.

Looking In is a brilliant taster to the EP, it’s alt rock, verging on pop rock at times, the guitar change ups on the track are fantastic, as is the dynamic drum solo.

The into verse with it’s echoey vocals hooks you in straight away and the tempo is raised with the punchy ear worm of a chorus when they sing “I’m on the outside and I’m looking in and all my bones are frozen, I want what you’ve got, you’ve got what I want”.

Looking In is my first introduction to Dohny Jep (have to say I love that playful twist for a name) and I’m loving their sound. I have also been lucky enough to have heard their upcoming EP released at the end of the month and it’s bloody good, four great tracks.
