Gefarhgeist - Nukular
Gefahrgeist combines the different musical expertise of two of Scotland’s most promising young musicians, Fiona Liddell and Niall Rae.
Fiona Liddell is a singer songwriter from Glasgow with a ten year music career performing with various musical projects (Jack Hinks, Echo Arcadia, Loud Poets). Niall (Neel) Rae is a producer and bassist from Aberdeen.
Their debut Graceless has been played on several radio stations including BBC, Amazing Radio and CamGlen FM and has also featured in many bloggers’ playlists of top picks, mine included.

Their second single Nukular was released on Friday 29 January, it was written by Fiona and produced by Niall.
Nukular starts off with a gorgeous gentle synth intro as Fiona sings “I walked into a nuclear bomb” and the track builds up as the synths begin to wail and reverberate as the punchy drums kick in.
The instrumentation creeps up all around you and envelopes you in a pocket inside the mushroom cloud of the nuclear explosion, leaving you in a void of emotional darkness as the song fades out.
Nukular is a song that explores materialism, sensuality and ultimately death framed in the imaginary thoughts of the person who pushed the ‘button’.
Gefarhgeist haven’t chosen the easiest name to be on the tip of your tongue, but the music they are producing means that it should be. With songs that have thought provoking heartfelt lyrics, stunning instrumentation and gorgeous melodies and vocals they are a duo who will wriggle into your head and firmly stamp their brilliance in your hippocampus (oh okay the part of your brain that stores your memory).
With only two singles under their belt and an EP on the horizon Gefarhgeist are certainly ones to watch.
