Reclaim Vienna - Cool With It
Cheshire electronic indie synth pop six piece Reclaim Vienna are Jonathan Steen (vocals), Danny Smith (guitar), Ryan Harlow (guitar), Ryan Smith (drums), Harry Woodrow (keys/electronics) and Paul Hill (bass).
They will appeal to fans of Mancunian favourites New Order and Slow Readers Club but with their retro pop vibe and echoes of Erasure, Heaven17, Yazoo and Duran Duran they will grab a lot of attention from all across the UK.
They release their new single Cool With It today, Friday 24 April on the 42’s records label. It was produced by Mark Winterburn and John Delf and mixed by John Delf at Edge Studio, Cheshire.
It has already gained considerable airplay on XS Manchester and has already been awarded the radio stations Record of the Week, following the same award being given to previous singles Kick the Butterfly and Paris.
Asked about the new release writer and guitarist Danny Smith said:
Cool With It is our summer festival song. It was written partly with my twin brother Ryan in mind and it’s a timeline of best friends, being cool with whatever as long as they are in it together, as they move through life, starting back in 1999 with ice cream and then the natural progression as you grow older through other pleasures and temptations that life offers.
Cool With It is a differently paced track to their recent run of singles but doesn’t disappoint in the slightest, its a real banger. If this doesn’t get you on your feet throwing some serious shapes then you must be made of stone.
It has everything you need in a song, grabbing you by the collar from the outset with its heavy bass and drums and the lyrics “are you cool, are you cool, are you cool, are you cool…..”
It just gets better and better, it has a huge anthemic sound with its fantastic driving guitar riffs but still retains an underlying dance beat, it’s a perfect mix of indie rock and synth pop even down to the fade out finish and will have mass appeal.
Lyrically it does tell the story of progression, I love the lines “let’s dance, like we are in a trance, back in 1999 with a flake and some bubbles and sauce to accompany, let’s get loaded, let’s throw caution to the wind”.
Reclaim Vienna have already built a loyal fan base on the spectacle of their live shows, selling out well in advance and Cool With It Will just add to their set, it will just blow the roof of any venue once the opening intro kicks in, beers flying and mosh pits at the ready !!!
I’m not sure there are enough adjectives to describe this song, in short it’s ‘fucking awesome’ and will be on repeat for weeks to come, they are now added to my growing list of bands I need to see live, Coronavirus please do one !
