Elessar - Is It Love
Elessar are a pop/rock band from Gloucestershire, they are Ricky Powell (vocals/guitar), Alex Evans (vocals/guitar) and Dan James (drums).
They quote their musical influences as Don Broco, Lower Than Atlantis and You Me At Six to name a few.
Last year saw Elessar revitalised as a three piece, dropping the emotive vibes for pop influenced rock, perfectly executed in their latest single Is It Love. The band show off a more sensitive side, depicting a love story gone wrong, while keeping in line with big catchy choruses they are renowned for.
Having already worked with big name producers Romesh Dogangoda (Kids In Glass Houses, Bring Me The Horizon) and Matt O’Grady (Don Broco, You Me At Six) in the past, the band have stepped it up a gear with these new releases and show no signs of slowing down.
Acclaim from the press has been notable since the beginning. With Already Heard stating Elessar as:
one of the hardest touring acts in the UK underground rock scene.
The band’s work ethic and passion for live music has seen them DIY their way to almost a dozen runs across the country, supporting the likes of Mallory Knox, Boston Manor, Milk Teeth and many more along the way.
So they kick start Phase two of their new sound with their single Is It Love, which was released today, Friday 8 May 2020.
Is It Love is indie pop and it’s phenomenal, it’s got a fantastic melody, driven by a great guitar hook and some outstanding drums and has their renowned catchy chorus.
It’s a song about falling in love but that love is not reciprocated, the opening lyrics set the scene “one day one touch it’s not much but I know it’s enough for me to say I was falling in love, we stayed all day conversation fading away if only I could carry it on” until we hear the lyrics “now it’s obvious I’m in love but I’m not what you want you keep me waiting for days”
This track needs to be given some serious love, it’s an all out indie pop banger.
