Luke Porter - The Truth Lies Behind

IMG_1044.jpeg

Luke Porter is a singer/songwriter from the North East of England and whilst performing shows in staple Newcastle venues such as O2 Academy, The Cluny and Think Tank has seen Luke grow into a major name across the local music scene.

Whilst gathering momentum in the live scene, Luke was picked up by nationally acclaimed promoter Scruff of The Neck and has worked with them several times since.

Back in 2019 Luke released his self-titled debut EP and it was based on an indie sound that he’d grown up with in the noughties and since then he has since developed his style and personalised the sound he is generating..

The new EP The Truth Lies Behind has been wrote, produced and mostly played by Luke himself. He travelled around the North East, using several different studios to record the instrumental tracks. The EP was released on Friday 23 October.

The EP kicks off with the previously released You Don’t See In Me What I See In You and it’s an outstanding blast of indie folk pop, it’s got a fantastic melody set by the guitar riff and is accompanied later in the song by the harmonica.

It’s very catchy and that melody really is an ear worm so instantly grabs your attention and is a great opener to the EP.

The next track is In Everything There’s You and it’s another catchy as fuck melody, a brilliant guitar rhythm that is complemented by a heartfelt vocal, you can see this song getting a huge response when played live with its positive vibes and charm.

I’ll Let The Day Pass Through is another brilliant track, albeit it seems a little more melancholic with the gentle guitar, but it does shine like a beacon of light when the keys come to the fore.

The final track Future’s Still A Dream picks up the tempo and immediately hooks you into the song, there are definitely some big Libertines influences floating around in the production of this track.

I loved this EP, I am a huge fan of Courteeners and when Luke sings it reminded me a lot of when Liam Fray breaks into acoustic versions of their tracks.

Luke’s tunes are polished and his clever and meaningful lyrics are delivered with a fantastic vocal, there is a huge future ahead for this young lad, I can’t wait to get the opportunity to hearing him perform live.
