Pizza Crunch - Flatfoot
I had the pleasure of reviewing Pizza Crunch’s first single Fraud
back in early 2020 and have followed them closely since.
The four piece have got better and better with each release bringing us some fantastic post-punk nonchalant guitar riffs and Flatfoot is no exception.
Pizza Crunch have been working on a host of new material and Flatfoot they say is the conclusion of their past sound and is there last planned release for a period of time as they are then going to focus their time on a more expansive project.
Although the track came together during the first lockdown it has undergone many changes since then. Lyricist Ewan Hearns commented on the track:
Lockdown impacted people in a variety of different ways. I was lucky, I’d just moved into a new flat and welcomed the freedom and time to kill. I think the more jovial tone in the Flatfoot lyrics reflects this time of my life, some of our recent releases have a little bit of a dark undertone to them whereas this one deals with more superficial issues.
Flatfoot is a guitar driven indie pop banger with an infectious guitar riff and a rhythm section that demands attention, it is a track that picks you up and sweeps you along in a tidal wave of joyous melody.
Pizza Crunch have created a space for themselves in a blossoming Glasgow music scene with their cheery take on melancholic subjects and it’s great to see them release a song that is just a bit of pure happiness.
