OHNOVA - Nobody Move
Formed in 2017, OHNOVA are a Glasgow based alternative/desert rock band.
A power trio, comprising Paul Morton (bass/vocals), Matthew Sharp (guitar) and Ciaran Whyte (drums) make music that focuses on big riffs and bigger melodies.
In May 2019, OHNOVA released their debut EP I Can’t Sleep to rave reviews. This allowed the band to support both international and domestic bands on their UK tours. It also gained them global radio play for singles Heavy Smile, Banjo Mac and Easy Way Out.
Recent highlights include an interview on Hard Rock Hell Radio for the Rock Lobster Show and rocking the main stage at ButeFest 2019.
Their latest single Nobody Move is released today 3 April 2020 and it’s a very surprising track it starts off with an almost pop feel to it, dancy drum beats and a soft melodic vocal and then throws in a rockier guitar riff and gruffier rock vocal chorus before returning to the more pop feel before the return of the chorus and the song then finishes off the more rockier element, blistering guitar riffs and strong vocal.
Lyrically it seems to be about a relationship needing reassurance summed up by the words “believe when I say that there is nobody else and if you still doubt it believe in yourself coz you’re wrong”
It’s an enjoyable track and a very clever play between two genres which I really enjoyed, will defo be adding OHNOVA to my watch list.
