Lewis Ross is an emerging indie folk artist from the Scottish countryside.

Taking influence from the likes of Bon Iver, Pinegrove and Gregory Alan Isakov, Lewis released his first EP Colder Days at age 19, including the track Signs of Life, a co-write between himself and Benjamin Francis Leftwich.

The EP has now reached over 1 Million Organic Spotify Streams and received massive support from Aperion YouTube channel with Signs of Life reaching over 2.5 million views on their channel.

Since then, Lewis has taken the past two years out of the music scene to work on his sound and style and is now back with his brand new single This Town which was released on Friday 29 January.

This Town is a piece of acoustic beauty, it’s melody is created by a gorgeous melancholic guitar riff and sparse keys. It’s a song that’s emotional and heartfelt, a personal reflection of growing up in a small town.

The highlight of the track is the brilliant vocals of Lewis, they are smooth and tender giving the sombre song some warmth.

It’s lyrics are bitter sweet telling the story of isolation and the common feeling of outgrowing a place that also holds memories. I particularly love the lines when Lewis sings “how am I supposed to ever get out this town, I watch the world right now letting me down, I need to see you but you’re leaving me now, I think I’m stuck in, I think I’m stuck in this town”.

This Town is a fantastic track and will see Lewis get more recognition for his excellent songwriting and lyricism. If he continues to write such impressive songs then he will be one of our next stars.
