Emma & the Idles are an indie heavy pop rock band based in London.

After busking and performing acoustically at venues in and around London, Emma decided to form a band to push her music forward. They are Etienne Miemczyk (guitar), Alex Scott (guitar), Craig Rattery (bass), David Leondi (keys), Daniel Ajiteru (drums) and of course Emma Withers (vocals).

Since forming in 2020 Emma & the Idles have released a couple of well received singles and prior to lockdown were building up a reputation as a must see live act with comparisons being made to Florence + the Machine, Imagine Dragons and YONAKA.

Their latest single Owe It To You was released on Friday 29 January and is a track which builds on their previous releases and elevates Emma & the Idles to new levels.

When asked about the track Emma said:

Owe It To You is an empowering anthem written with this in mind, it's about self acceptance, self belief and being unashamedly who you are, saying ’Screw it, i’m just gonna do it and i'm not stopping till I'm there. I believe in me.

The track opens with a heavy bass, guitar and immediate vocals, it is a song that makes you sit up and listen as it builds up the melody.

It’s a tight song, some great key changes and a dynamic and confident vocal and it’s got the hook of a great ear worm of a chorus when Emma sings “and somehow maybe I'm falling too when I thought everything over you came through, right now everything's ticking in my mind I can feel I've been born anew,
Ooooooo, Ooooooo, yeah yeah.”

Emma & the Idles write tunes that combine sharp catchy melodies and thought provoking lyrics that are sure to hit the mark, and Owe It To You is no exception especially when they throw into the mix that singalong chorus.

For a relatively new band they are releasing bold, confident and polished music, they should be added to your ones to watch list now, they are already on mine!
