Feels Like Pluto - Yes To Rest

Alternative indie pop band Feels Like Pluto was formed across the borders of Scotland and England in 2021 when the music world was returning in full force after its forced lockdown, bandmates and best friends, Louie Thomson (vocals/guitar) and Josh Jackson (vocals/drums) bonded over a love of fellow Scottish band Fatherson, fine whisky and a want for positive change.

Feels Like Pluto are looking to have their busiest year yet having already secured a BBC introducing live session and seeing increased radio play across the broadcaster it was time to release their first single of the year, Yes To Rest.

Yes to Rest is all about embracing the need to rest, a plea to take a step back from the demands and peer pressures of everyday life and social media and take time to recharge the batteries.

Louie is honest in his honesty that it also reflects on his own struggles with ADHD and an inability to switch off that blue light and get a proper rest and when asked about the track he said:

“Most of all, this is a reminder to us to take time when it’s necessary. To try and not push through when our brain is foggy and our body is tired. To not feel this horrendous sense of shame and guilt when we need to take the foot off the pedal, we’re tired of feeling bad about being tired.”

Josh added:

“Society nowadays seems to have forgotten how important it is to rest and avoid the inevitable burnout, something we’re are all to familiar with”

Yes To Rest is a great listen, drum driven and an emotional vocal pleading to the listener to take time out and say Yes To Rest. It’s a pacy track that lasts just over three minutes and showcases a different side to the band with a heavier yet still alt pop sound which will appeal to fans of Fatherson, Twin Atlantic and others of that ilk.

Thomson offers a great vocal throughout and uses his own experiences to craft a story within the song ensuring it will strike a chord with many of us out there who don’t take time for ourselves and switch off and say Yes To Rest.

This is Feels Like Pluto’s third single and I’ve liked them all and look forward to seeing them live and bringing their sound to the stage.

Give Yes To Rest a listen and give the boys a follow:
