Hemes is an exciting emerging artist born to Arabic parents. Her love for music and songwriting stemmed from being raised around a mix of western and middle eastern music, surrounded by music and poetry from a young age. 

Currently based in Wales and after her collaboration with welsh duo Two Of Us on reggaeton dance track Casual we see the release of her debut single Who Needs Love on Friday 2 October. The track is produced by Grammy nominated songwriter Daniel Evans (LVR).

Who Needs Love is a gorgeous dark pop song infused with a hint of RnB In the incredible vocals from Hemes.

The track is very minimalistic in its production with a soft rhythm underpinning the song, this allows the vocals to be quite rightly the star of the show.

Like a lot of music Who Needs Love is a track dealing with the break up of a relationship, the lyrics are thought provoking and emotional and will touch a chord with many. This is illustrated when Hemes sings “I can’t tell, is it real this time, are we breaking up ? are we drawing the line ?, I can’t tell, is it real this time ? tell me” or more so when she sings “love oh love, gave it all away, now it’s never coming back, gave it all away”.

Hemes with Who Needs Love has given us a fabulous introduction to her solo career and if this is what we can expect in the future then it’s definitely a name to keep an eye on.
