Ora Violet - Creep Negativo

Ora Violet are a London band ready to smack you around the head with a sonic boom of fresh rock and roll that fuses the early 70s proto punk of The Stooges and The Modern Lovers with the modem versatility of Raconteurs and Queens Of The Stone Age.


Core members, songwriters are the producers Black Tiles' William Durzu and TJ Walters with guitarist Nick Ferman.

For the new single Creep Negativo they are joined by vocalist Jeet Mulkerj and James Meynell on bass. 


But taking it back a step or two Ora Violet jumped out on us in late 2019 with their debut single Honey, You Did It and they have kept the momentum up by releasing another two tracks in 2020 namely Feel the Same and Delicious.

So their third track of 2020 Creep Negativo was released on Friday 30 October give us a real edgy piece of indie punk delivered with a real swagger.

It’s a confident track, with a bristling energetic guitar riff and a fabulous raspy vocal that becomes increasingly breathless as the song rattles along with its raucous rhythm.

The breathlessness suits the inspiration of the track which is a sardonic bite at today’s ego driven politicians who think they can get away with anything, as the band say in their words:

With the US elections looming and the press dominated by Trump's daily scandals and missteps, Creep Negativo was inspired by the insane idea that our world leaders can be pussy grabbing, perma tanned epitomes of evil.

That narrative is perfectly echoed in the chorus of the song when they sing "this is what I want" repetitively outlining the style of today’s politics, if you can imagine a conference call between the Trumps, Johnsons and Farages of the sector !!

But it is best described in the sarcastic verse “I’m a crazy lifetaker
 he’s a mad deal breaker
, choose your camp my brother
I’m on your side forever
I’m a faker, a truth maker, you won’t see me coming baby he’s an orange people pleaser
, left his life in rubber
I’m a crowded bar brawler
 with the engine running
, please don’t choose me lover
I’ll leave your side forever
“.

Creep Negativo is a fantastic track, delivered with astute political awareness but done with just enough comedy in the lyrics to let people see the contemptibility of which ludicrous politics should be viewed.
