Red Cavalry are the alternative rock duo of James Peate (Guitar, Vocals, Mandolin) and Alex James (Bass, Drums, Guitar & Vocals) based between Aberystwyth and Bavaria.

In a world filled with electronic beats and distorted sounds, Red Cavalry offers an escape with the chime and jangle of their bright alternative rock sound.

Recording in Wales, Staffordshire and Bavaria, Red Cavalry's music offers a take on music outside of city limits and busy metropolitan soundscapes.

With their 2020 releases pulling heavily on inspiration outside of the music world, particularly the works of painter and poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti.

Their latest release Red House comes out today, Friday 17 July.

Red House makes its intentions clear from the outset, with a pulsating guitar riff and sharp drums to drive a pleasing and ear friendly melody.

It has a very sixties psychedelic feel to it, gives the melody a very airy and dreamy quality which is very engaging.

Lyrically it tells of a story of two people who love each other bit are actually with other people as the catchy chorus describes “you live with him and I’m with her it just won’t work although I want it to, since you moved in you can rest your fate with him, it just won’t work though I want it to”.

And as the song progresses there is one final plea to be reunited when the protagonist sings “I know he’s nice and I know he’s kind, but we’ve only one life and true loves hard to find”.

Red House is a great track, it’s got an infectious melody and strong vocals and a chorus that sticks in your head, what’s not to like.

I’m new to Red Cavalry but not now as I have caught up with their previous releases and they have some cracking tunes which have a sixties psychedelic vibe about them, go listen, you will like them !!
