Konner - I Can’t Get Away

Glasgow based indie pop singer/songwriter Konner released his latest single I Can’t Get Away on Thursday 21 January.

Konner has been championed by BBC Introducing Scotland and Amazing Radio after the success of previous singles Clean and Your Place last year.

When asked about the track Konner said:

I Can’t Get Away is a song about not being able to escape the worst of yourself and being stuck in a vicious cycle. It was almost a letter to myself explaining the cycle of self-doubt and self-deprecation I was stuck in, where every person around me seemed to be a reflection back at my own insecurities, but also acknowledging how important it was to face these feelings and keep going. It’s a lonely song but one filled with a bit of a hope that things will get better.

I Can’t Get Away is real masterpiece, it’s oozing in shimmering dream pop lo-fi beats and Konner brings a soulful vocal which lifts this track into the stratosphere.

The track showcases Konner’s fantastic voice and is steeped in emotion, it’s a song you can see playing in a US TV drama playing in the background when you see a montage of images of a relationship on the rocks !! Give it a listen you will get exactly what I mean.

The simple chorus of “I Can’t Get Away” is a real ear worm and you can’t help but join in to its euphoric vibes.

I’m a bit late to the party with Konner, but he is now firmly on my radar for huge success. Don’t just listen to I Can’t Get Away, give his back catalogue some real love, there are some absolute cracking tunes in there.

Konner will be taking part in the project “Focus On The Venues”, an online festival that supports the Save Our Venues charity alongside Only Sun and many more on Friday 29 January.
