Life Model - Saskia

Life Model are a Glasgow based dream pop quintet, featuring Sophie Evans (vocals/guitar), Christ Smith (guitar), Helen Farrow-Thoms (keys/vocals), Cameron McDougall (bass) and Michael McDonald (drums).

They were named as one of Vic Galloway’s ‘Ones to Watch in 2018’, the band mixes classic indie and pop with some noisier undertones, drawing influence from the likes of The Sundays, Belle and Sebastian and noisier elements from bands like Sonic Youth.

They are on the Last Night From Glasgow record label, which is a very unique label and that it’s primary funding comes from patrons. It’s a fantastic concept and deserves a mention, mind out more from the link below:

Anyways after that slight digression back to Life Model and their latest single Saskia which was released on Friday 27 March 2020.

The song Is dreamy pop from start to finish, gentle rolling guitar riffs, floating keys, soft drums and great vocals from Sophie Evans, with gorgeous harmonies thrown in by Helen Farrow-Thoms.

Despite a dreamy summery pop vibe, lyrically the song appears to describe trying to prevent a break-up, lyrically described by the words “and I’ll change if you ask me to” and “when I’m speaking I find your mind is slowly drifting” and “I’ll be fine in an hour or two”.

I loved Saskia and it’s the perfect complement to their previous releases and surely the debut album from them isn’t too far on the horizon.
