Forming in the middle of 2018 Cucamaras are an indie inspired four piece based around Nottingham and Sheffield and are Josh Hart (guitars/vocals), Olly Bowley (guitars/vocals), Joe Newton (drums) and Dan McGrath (bass). 

The band is based around the song writing talents of Olly and Josh, taking influence anywhere from naughties indie to 80’s synth pop.

Releasing their debut EP Till The Meter Runs Out and stand alone single Please Not Tonight shortly after forming in 2019, word has since spread like wildfire with BBC Introducing being quick off the mark to proclaim themselves fans from the very beginning. Notching up over 25,000 streams on Spotify in no time, the band have gone on to headline SOLD OUT shows in Sheffield and Nottingham, and spent 2019 touring the nation alongside kindred spirits like Sheafs and No Hot Ashes.

Cucamaras released Keep It Cool a few weeks back and today, Friday 21 August sees them release Window Seat in what is essentially the release of a double A side.

Familiar to many as staples of a Cucamaras live set, the tracks are already some way to becoming fan favourites and will rightly appear together on a double A side studio release.

As Josh says:

The two tracks are always played back to back live just like they are on the studio version, capturing our live sound in the recording was really important to us.

Window Seat is a super cool track, it screams The Strokes all over, it’s got a catchy as hell melody and the slumbering guitar hooks are just filled with fun.

The fuzzy vocals of Olly and Josh perfectly highlight the mundane of getting that window seat on your summer holiday flight, albeit that may not be so mundane this year if you are lucky enough to get away !!!

Window Seat is one of those tracks that you will play over and over again, it’s got an ear worm of a melody and the laid back Summer vibes of the song mean that it will be perfect to chill to as the evenings shorten.

I wasn’t overly familiar with Cucamaras before this landed in my inbox, but I have taken a listen to some of their back catalogue, you should too, these guys write some quality chilled indie bangers.
