Walt Disco - How Cool Are You?
Walt Disco have jumped into 2022 with news of their debut album Unlearning which will be released on 1 April. To coincide with the announcement the band also dropped their latest single How Cool Are You?
The track comes complete with its own video of which the band said:
This time we wanted to slip into our skates and paint the rink all the colours of the rainbow, flying in the face of the pouting ‘cool crew’ and showing that coolness shouldn’t come at the cost of having fun and accepting yourself!
Those words describe what Walt Disco are about, they are a voice for the under represented on many topics, genre identity, mental health and the importance of pushing for acceptance in your own terms.
Walt Disco have seen an evolution in their music over the last few years from post-punk revolutionists to all out flamboyant pop stars each of their releases becoming bolder and more extravagant including a maximalist dress sense bringing a huge amount of fun to their music.
But behind the theatre lies a truly captivating pop band and How Cool Are You? encapsulates that with its perfectly executed grandiosity that could easily translate to a West End stage show.
It’s three minutes of glorious pop drawn from influences such as The Associates and early Simple Minds but given a contemporary overcoat of many colours with a trademark in your face chorus.
